Post by LarryIn the US, it seems to be illegal or some sort of patent violation, so we
get none.
It's not likely to be any sort of patent violation, since there are a
large number of printers of various types that do print on printable
media. I rather think it's just Epson bean-counters that view such a
feature as an unneccessary expense and perhaps not a feature that
would be well accepted in the US. It may also be that the CD feature
created servicing problems in the UK for the 2100, or it could be the
generally poor results obtained from most inkjet methods and the
relative scarcity of printable media.
Post by LarryI still can't find out who owns this patent, or what is stopping Canon from
giving us these kits.

Post by j popOther than the Epson R300, what inkjet printer can print directly to
CD/DVD.
also, how do you know if your CD/DVD's are inkjet printable? The
CD/DVD's that i have say nothing about inkjet printable (I guess they
are not)
All inkjet-printable media have either flat-white plain tops, or are
silver with a rough, plain printable surface. Be aware that some of
the printable media offered is intended for thermal or silkscreen
printing, and will not accept inkjet ink.
